NO FOOLIN' -- JAZZ NIGHT CONTINUES AT DOMA THROUGH APRIL!

April’s Not the Cruellest Month

Doma Continues Tuesday Night Jazz Series

NEW YORK, March 29, 2011 / / -- Doma will not be skipping a beat as March turns to April, welcoming Byron Issacs to its already-popular Tuesday night jazz series on April 5 after Charlie Burnham closes out March on the 29th  in decidedly un-lamb-like fashion.

Word of the series, curated by world-famous drummer Ben Perowsky, got out pretty quick after Jennifer Charles and Oren Bloedow of Elysian Fields fame kicked things off on Valentine’s Day.  Mad Hare March saw an ever-increasing line of music-lovers arriving at Doma to eat and drink some seriously homey fare while listening to an incredible line-up of world-class bopsters and popsters drummed for by Perowsky.  Matt Munisteri and Danton Boller roared in like a lion on March 1, followed by Doug Wamble’s crooned tunes on March 8, Sasha Dobson w/ Trevor Dunn on the Ides themselves, "Bop on Pop" Frank Perowsky arriving with Gary Versace on March 22, and Charlie Burnham still to play on March 29.

April’s line-up promises more, and then some.  Byron Issacs on the 5th, Sparky featuring Ken McGloin and Dean Sharp with special guest on the 12th, Glenn Patscha on the 19th, and a return visit from Matt Munisteri on the 26th.   For this series at Doma, these best of the best in NYC’s music scene test and express their verbosity within the contexts of more traditional mediums.  These almost song-book contexts include gypsy jazz and reinterpretation of standards -- contemporary expressions of traditional folkloric mediums, but not limited to American folklore.   Surprise visits from compatriots playing at nearby Village Vanguard, Smalls and Blue Note are likely; and all sets will be drummed by Man Who Was Tuesday Perowsky.

Doma’s owner, Michael Polesny, a musician and songwriter best known for his heady pop project, Stoneboat, collaborates with curator and world-famous drummer Ben Perowsky to produce the series.

As if these jazz luminaries were not Pied Piper enough, Doma’s combination of great comfort food, great wines and beers at good prices, and espresso drinks pulled by an impressive selection of mesmerizingly un-American baristas should seal the deal.  Jazz-lovers can go the wine-and-cheese or coffee-and-dessert route, try light fare such as Panini and salads or a plate of mussels; or dig in to sit-down dinner options that include Chicken with Lemon and Capers, burger and fries, and a rotating Pasta or Fish of the Day.   The wine list is considered a best-kept secret in the Village, with fine European wines at low prices, and a beer list featuring Belgian blond ales, wheat beer, rare and less so lagers from both Germany masters and Brooklyn microbreweries.

Doma, known literally around the world as one of New York’s City’s most beloved boites for food, coffee, wine, beer and true Village vibe, haunt of writers, artists, musicians and just plain folks, seals its status as the Center of True Village with this Tuesday night jazz series.   And no cover makes it easy listening.

Curator Ben Perowsky is one of the most accomplished drummers of his generation, part of a small vanguard of players able to move between jazz, experimental music and cutting edge pop and rock.  His numerous drumming credits and collaborations make him a curator with the mostess, able to gather some incredible talent for this exciting series.

The only problem I faced was the minimum amount required to start a campaign using cheap michael kors watches was higher than PayPal. Since, I prefer running many small campaigns, I found this to be a problem. I haven't tried them out as a Publisher yet.
